Evergreen Speedway drivers ranked nationally

NASCAR released the latest top-500 national ranking for the Whelen All-American Series on Tuesday.
While the Super Stock, Bomber and Mini-Stock divisions at Evergreen Speedway are part of the Whelen series, only Super Stock drivers are ranked nationally against drivers in similar late-model divisions around the nation.
As the only NASCAR home track in Washington, Evergreen Speedway will crown both a track and a state NASCAR champion. Although heat race points do not count toward the NASCAR title, it is highly likely the same driver will win both crowns.
NASCAR points are awarded for a driver's top finishes in 17 races. The top driver from all states will be the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion.
Through 13 races at Evergreen, drivers are ranked nationally as follows:
-- Naima Lang is No. 193 in the nation with 357 points;
-- Defending track and state champion John Zaretzke is No. 234 (293 points);
-- Leading rookie of the year candidate James Mugge is No. 297 (262);
-- Mike Holden is No. 304 (259);
--Jeff Knight is No. 325 (247);
-- Steve Ptacek is No. 391 (218);
-- Tom Hughs is No. 471 (186).
Because local points are different (heat races count), the names are in the same places but the totals differ from the national standings. The top 10 locally are:
1. Naima Lang, 683;
2. John Zaretzke, 615 (-18);
3. James Mugge, 638 (-45);
4. Mike Holden, 634 (-49);
5. Jeff Knight, 626 (-57);
6. Steve Ptacek, 597 (-86);
7. Tom Hughs, 584 (-99);
8. Scott LaCross, 556 (-127);
9. Daniel Moore, 501 (-182);
10. Michael Prudnick, 460 (-223).
