Belligerent beggars attack Marysville man over $1

MARYSVILLE – They demanded $1 and now are in jail.

Police believe an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old stopped a Marysville man, who was walking around 12:15 a.m. today near the intersection of 4th Street and State Avenue, Marysville police Cmdr. Ralph Krusey said.

The teenagers - one from Marysville, the other from Tulalip - asked the 20-year-old man for $1, Krusey said.

When the man refused and started to walk away, the other men attacked him and a fight followed.

They took the man’s skateboard and ran off but were quickly arrested by Marysville police, Krusey said.

The victim was left with a bloody nose and a cut lip and forehead. Police returned his skateboard to him.

The two men were booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree robbery. Police believe they had been drinking.
