Community Transit will ask voters to extend service
A Community Transit proposal to extend its bus service to Cathcart, Clearview and Maltby is headed for the Nov. 4 ballot.
The agency’s board of directors on Thursday decided to send the proposed annexation to the ballot. The proposal aims to add about 30,000 people and about 32 square miles to the agency’s district, according to Community Transit. That is expected to include much of the Cathcart, Clearview and Maltby areas east of Mill Creek.
The measure will need a majority vote to pass. If approved, people in the area are expected to see an increase of sales tax by 0.9 percent, or 9 cents on a $10 taxable purchase.
