In a recent e-mail alert about late boats, Washington State Ferries apologized for any "incontinence" the delay might cause passengers. Around the same time, cities in the region noticed a sudden surge in water use as people seized with hysterical laughter ran for the bathroom.

A couple tidbits of information from the health department:
  • A spokeswoman from the American Dietetics Association corrects popular myths about nutrition and food. Much to our disappointment, however, she doesn't provide any insight into some of our more pressing questions, such as whether eating Rocky Mountain oysters really will put hair on your chest.

  • If you've got sore muscles from hiking, biking or carrying a crying child around the Taste of Edmonds all weekend, Elizabeth Smoots offers tips to help you stop walking like an elephant with arthritis. She also suggests some ways to prevent soreness in the future, such as slowly boosting your level of physical activity. For instance, you could increase the number of times you get up and trek to the kitchen for snacks in between record-setting races by Michael Phelps.
