The tour can be seen from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Snohomish County PUD, 2320 California St. The tour, called the City Tour for Solar, is traveling to 50 cities around the West in 100 days to provide a demonstration of solar power. It consists of a large vehicle equipped with solar technology. The vehicle is powered by biodiesel. More info: 425-783-1000 or www.citytourforsolar.com. Historic ship Lady Washington coming The brigantine Lady Washington, a full-scale reproduction of a 1750s sailing ship, is scheduled to arrive in Everett today and stay here for tours Tuesday and Wednesday. The ship will be joined by the topsail ketch Hawaiian Chieftain. In Everett, find the ships near Anthony's Home Port restaurant, 1726 W. Marine View Drive. Tour the ships 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. today ; 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 19; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 20. Passengers can take a three-hour Battle Sail, or a three-hour Sunset Sail. Lake Stevens Back-to-school event for low-income families Families living on low incomes in the Lake Stevens School District are invited to a Back to School Event on Saturday. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Stevens Family Center, 1803 123rd Drive NE. Backpacks filled with school supplies are expected to be available. Haircuts are offered by appointment and free books will be distributed. Toiletry kits are expected to be available for families living in shelters. Several community agencies and others are scheduled to be on hand to provide information about services. More info: 425-397-7433. Today's City Council meeting cancelled The Lake Stevens City Council workshop previously scheduled for today has been cancelled. The next scheduled meeting of the council is at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Services Center, 12309 22nd Street NE. More info: 425-334-1012. Monroe Sky Valley food bank needs school supplies Time is running out for the Sky Valley Food Bank to collect donations of school supplies to help underprivileged students in the Monroe School District. People can donate new backpacks and other school supplies or money to purchase the supplies at Sky Valley Food Bank, P.O. Box 724, Monroe, WA 98272. Checks must be designated as "School Days." Snohomish Chamber holding Community Day event The Snohomish Chamber of Commerce is set to have its first Community Day at Snohomish Station, a new shopping center along Bickford Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 27. The event aims to allow community groups to set up their displays, promote their activities and seek volunteers. Those who want to participate need to fill out an application form and send it to the chamber of commerce.
