Motorcyclist dies after crashing into house on Whidbey Island

OAK HARBOR -- A motorcyclist died late Tuesday night after apparently losing control of his bike and hitting a house, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The man, 23, of East Dundee, Ill., was taken by rescue crews to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died after the crash.

He was riding fast westbound on Pinewood Way around midnight when investigators believe he failed to stop at a stop sign where the street intersects with West Beach Road. The motorcycle left the road and hit a house.

Troopers are investigating speed as the likely cause of the collision.
