Live Aloha Hawaiian Festival

Experience the spirit of Hawaii on Sunday, Sept. 7, when the first-ever Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival takes place at Seattle Center. Presented by nonprofit organizations and clubs serving the Pacific Northwest Hawaiian community, the day promises to immerse visitors in the culture of our 50th state.

Start inside the Center House with music and dance, vendors, a music workshop, documentaries, and displays including a Hawaiian history timeline and a one-man outrigger canoe. Take part in a lei-making workshop that offers both a history of the tradition and hands-on lei making (appropriate for adults and older children).

The children’s area, or Keiki Korner, features Hawaiian children’s stories, Hawaiian games (Konane, or Hawaiian checkers, and Hu, a Hawaiian top game), a hula workshop (11:30 a.m.), activity sheets, and lei-making using felt flowers.

Outside the Center House will be a second entertainment area plus Hawaiian food booths.
