FYI: Snohomish Chamber plans Community Day

The Snohomish Chamber of Commerce is set to have its first Community Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at Snohomish Station, a new shopping center along Bickford Avenue.

Community groups can set up displays, promote their activities and seek volunteers. Those who want to participate need to fill out an application form and send it to the Chamber of Commerce.

To get the form, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 360-568-2526 or manager@cityofsnohomish.com.

Fundraising drive continues for Tulalip cultural center

The Hibulb Cultural Center and Natural History Preserve likely will cost the Tulalip Tribes about $19 million by the time it's finished in 2010.

So far, the Tulalip Tribes have pledged $6 million, and a Washington state Heritage Grant has provided $1 million, according to figures provided by the tribal government.

The 23,000-square-foot cultural center and traditional longhouse is expected to open next year. The natural history preserve is also set for completion next year, and the center's endowment phase will last until 2010.

For more information, call 360-716-4386.

Sultan Basin Road closed through October

Sultan Basin Road will be closed between U.S. 2 and 142nd Street SE from Sept. 5 through Oct. 7.

The road closure is necessary to install a retaining wall and extend an existing sidewalk between the Timber Ridge development.

Access to Sultan Basin Road will be through Rice Road with detour signs to assist drivers.

For more information, call 360-793-2231.
