Faith and Spiritual Life: Outreach

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Bible Way Church holds a relay and school supply giveaway from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Wiggums Hollow Park, 2808 10th St., Everett.

Organizers plan to hand out backpacks filled with free school supplies. Free hot dogs will also be served. Bible Way Church is at 2228 Wetmore Ave., Everett.

Adventure Church of Everett holds a free community barbecue at 2 p.m. on Labor Day at Lowell Park, 4605 S. Third Ave., Everett. The event features live music, a bounce house, games and prizes.

Our Savior's Lutheran Church invites the public to a 40th anniversary celebration, salmon barbecue and open house from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at 215 Mukilteo Blvd., Everett. CLASSES, SEMINARS

Bethany Christian Assembly kicks off a series of evening life seminars at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 2715 Everett Ave., Everett.

Seminars focus on parenting, marriage and life issues for new and longtime believers. Topics include "I Love You More: How Everyday Problems Can Strengthen Your Marriage" and "Basic Christian Beliefs."

Northshore Christian Church and Academy holds a parenting seminar led by Diane Moore, author of the book "Parenting the Heart of Your Child," from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 12 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at 5700 23rd Drive W., Everett. Moore, a nationally-known family life specialist, plans to talk about how to be godly parents to kids of all ages and to offer tools, training, expertise and a ­question-and-answer period.

Warm Beach Camp and Global Net Productions present a two-day movie camp from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 and 13 at Warm Beach Christian Camps and Conference Center, 20800 Marine Drive, Stanwood.

The hands-on, intensive film and video camp for ages 14 and up is designed to provide practical skills and experience in filmmaking and on producing Christian and family-friendly media. Local producer-filmmaker Michael Lienau and actor Grant Goodeve plan to be on hand to work with attendees.

Christ the King Lutheran Church plays host to Walk Through the New Testament, a one-day Bible seminar co-sponsored by four Snohomish churches, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at 1305 Pine Ave., Snohomish. Sign-in and coffee is at 9 a.m.

The Rev. Lowell Stime, a faculty member of Trinity Lutheran College in Everett, plans to present an interactive nondenominational seminar for both youth and adults about key events, people and places of the New Testament.

The cost is $15 per person or $30 per family and includes lunch, snacks and a participant's book. Child care is available upon request.

Sister Maribeth Carson, pastoral assistant for faith formation, presents Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 18. The sessions explore the Catholic faith, answering such questions as: "What do Catholics believe and why?," "How do I become a Catholic?" and "If I was baptized in another religion, do I have to be rebaptized?"

CONCERTS

Everett's First Presbyterian Church plays host to the second annual end-of-summer concert and ice cream social by Summer Aire at 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Summer Aire, a group of musicians and singers from The Everett Chorale, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church and others, plans to present a program called "Singing Broadway." Songs include music from "Rodgers and Hammerstein on Broadway," "The Secret Garden" and "Camelot." The concert is free. Donations accepted and appreciated.

Project Domestic Violence Outreach, Response and Advocacy presents Helping Children Who Have Witnessed Domestic Violence, a 12-week series of classes for mothers and their children ages 5 to 8 at a confidential location. Registration is required by Sept. 12.

The program is free to families of all religions, communities and cultures, non-Jews and Jews alike.

Project Domestic Violence Outreach, Response and Advocacy presents a Rosh Chodesh Group, an evening support group facilitated by Ruz Gulko, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 14, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7, at a confidential location.

The program is designed to celebrate women and the new moon and is for Jewish women who have experienced abuse by an intimate partner. The program is free. Child care provided with one week's advance notice.

Aglow Edmonds Community Lighthouse invites the public to an evening of praise, worship, food and fellowship from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8 at Aglow headquarters office, 123 Second Ave. S., Suite 100, Edmonds.

Martha Stanley plans to talk about Aglow's Israel mandate and the place Israel holds in scripture. A time of prayer for Israel and the Jewish people is planned.
