The metallic look glistens again

    Mirrored blox and ledge

Fall home fashion is aglow this year with metallic, pearled, acrylic and mirror finishes. It's a trend that resurfaces every few years, yet there are always new examples of creative craftsmanship. The trend is everywhere at all price points. Metals, Lucite, gold leaf, ceramic and glass are fashioned into decorative elements. And in soft furnishings, there are iridescent table linens, as well as metallic threaded throws to dress the sofa. The look is reminiscent of 1930s Hollywood, all glamour and gloss.

Chiasso shows mirrored blocks and ledges to spark up walls. The reflective quality of these finishes can work in smaller rooms. Check them out at www.chiasso.com, $28 to $38.

Philippe Starck's Kong chair for Emeco in polished aluminum plays on the shiny look. See it at www.designpublic.com. The Emeco Kong chair lists at $1,065 to $1,160.

Z Gallerie shows glittery accessories that light up the season as the days grow darker. This silver twig lamp can be seen at www.zgallerie.com, $89.

The lean and lithe furniture reflects light off pencil thin legs in this Pottery Barn Wright tempered glass and polished nickel dining table. See it at www.potterybarn.com, $799.

Those unwilling to commit to large pieces can sprinkle sparkle with candles like these Blissliving Home Buddha heads. They're found at www.blisslivinghome.com, $35.

Z Gallerie also adds a shiny aspect with this Margaux mirrored glass vanity set and tissue box. Go to www.zgallerie.com. The vanity set is $49.95 and the tissue box is $14.95.
