Council on Aging needs volunteers

Snohomish County residents interested in the issues facing older adults and people with disabilities can apply for membership on the Snohomish County Council on Aging. It advises the county on federal, state and local funds targeted to the elderly.

Three-year terms begin Jan. 1. The Council on Aging generally meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to noon. To receive an application form or find out more, call Joyce Frasu at 425-388-7377 or e-mail her at j.frasu@snoco.org.

Mukilteo

Reception to honor pioneer and citizen of year

Mukilteo's Pioneer of the Year, Mas Odoi, and Mukilteo's Citizen of the Year, Paul Archipley, are scheduled to be guests of honor at a reception Saturday.

The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the lighthouse, 608 Front St., in conjunction with the Lighthouse Festival.

Mas Odoi grew up in the 1920s in what is now called Japanese Gulch. Archipley is publisher of the Mukilteo Beacon.

The reception is being organized by the Mukilteo Historical Society. Refreshments are planned.

The historical society's 2008 float, highlighting the new exhibit "Mukilteo: The Way We Were," will be on display.

Historical storytellers are expected to be on hand, on the lighthouse grounds, and the latest additions to the Historical Collectors Cards will be available.
