To PS3 or not to PS3, that is the question
Plus World of Warcraft Death Knight video shows new spells

There is something missing in my life, and that is a PS3 – but I just can’t bring myself to buy one.
Or can I? My initial hesitation in buying a PS3 were legion. For example, the PS3 has no backwards compatibility, a distinct lack of exclusive titles and the daunting price tag that looked more like a mortgage payment than a videogame system.
It’s sad, really. I was such a huge PS2 fan and it still holds a place of honor in the martial vastness that is my entertainment center.
Is the PS3 worth it? Maybe, just maybe it is.
The PS3 has an impressive list of exclusives coming soon that just might be worth the investment of my hard-earned sheckles. While Sony might have gotten the pimp-slap hear around the world at E3 2008 when Square-Enix declared that Final Fantasy XIII will not be an exclusive, there are plenty of titles out there that make up for it.
Don’t think so? Check out this list: Driver, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, God of War III, Grand Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, MAG, Resistance 2, SOCOM: Confrontation, Tekken 6, Twisted Metal, White Knight Chronicles… plus all the other games that have been released as an exclusive on the system, for example Metal Gear Solid 4.
Not to mention Bioshock.
For those two or three that never played Bioshock, the game is pure genius. Easily one of the best games ever made and near the top of my favorite games of all time. So when developer 2K said they were creating Bioshock for the PS3 with new content, I got the itch to buy the system. Evidently the new content will be a “survivor” mode that adds a considerable amount of difficulty, plus something called “challenge rooms,” but there hasn’t been an exhaustive list of what’s going to be in the game. Yet.
Will I get a PS3? Time will tell, but I have to say that Sony has been working hard to justify the price of the machine.

“Just when I thought I got out…”
...Blizzard pulls me back in.
My e-mail burped last night whilst playing my witchunter on Warhammer Online and I saw something that elicited a Pavlovian response: a Wrath of the Lich King beta invite.
It seems Blizzard is interested in me traipsing around Northrend. I have to say I’m seriously considering it, if for nothing else than giving the new hero class “Deathknight” a spin and checking out the rune system. Should I do it? I admit some trepidation in returning to WoW. I finally hung up my daggers and retired my rogue as the game started to feel like part-time employment that was eventually becoming full-time.
But now this. Can I resist the siren song of WoW, denying my inherent geekdom? Probably not, but I’ll be giving it a look as well as contacting Blizzard to see if it is kosher to blog on my findings. That’s it until WotLK goes live.
Here’s a video of some Deathknight game play, showing some of the spells. Around 3:16 in the video the Blood Elf spasm a little “noob-coil” on a defenseless owl. Just like a “Belf” I say. Hmph.
Beware the rock music accompanying the video – heavy metal should always be ingested cautiously.
