Free fruits and veggies for seniors

The U.S. Department of Agriculture offers a Senior Farmers Market program through various Snohomish and Island county senior centers. Income-eligible adults age 60 and up can receive $40 worth of checks redeemable at authorized farmers markets. Checks are valid until Oct. 31.

Medical equipment for multiple sclerosis

The Multiple Sclerosis Helping Hands Donor Closet offers a variety of recycled, durable medical and mobility equipment to people with low incomes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays at 409 Howell Way, Edmonds. Items offered include recycled computers, scooters, power chairs and other equipment.

Volunteers needed to help clean Jetty Island

The Snohomish-Camano Nearshore Cooperative hosts a Jetty Island Day of Caring from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Jetty Island, Everett, starting at the 10th Street boat launch and marine park. Volunteers are invited to help remove invasive plants and to help clean up garbage at the park and on the island.

Dinner for veterans offered Saturday

The Take a Vet to Lunch Organization presents a dinner for veterans at 5 p.m. Saturday at Assembly of God Church, 201 N. Stillaguamish Ave., Arlington.

The evening features entertainment, a slide show and door prizes.

The cost is $15, which includes dinner for one person and a veteran or their guest. Individuals, companies and organizations may also host a table. Seating is limited to 200 people.

Assistance League to sell evening gowns

The Assistance League of Everett holds a formal evening gown sale from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 5107 Evergreen Way, Everett. Elaine Cobb of The Pickie Needle in Marysville recently donated a collection of dresses. Proceeds benefit Operation School Bell and other Assistance League programs.
