Behold, the power of cheese

The Edmonds School District has suspended its policy and won't be taking away the hot lunches of students and handing them cheese sandwiches if they owe more than $10.

All those cheese sandwiches won't go to waste, however. They're replacing the doughnuts at Edmonds School Board meetings.

Skipping lunch altogether: If you pay attention to such things, you may notice that fashion models have bulked up. Instead of size 0, the models are sizes 2 and 4, says the chairwoman of a designers' health initiative.

We'd like to apologize to our female readers who have spit their morning coffee all over their Heralds and are now laughing uncontrollably at the thought of a size 2 fashion model as having gained weight.

Wanna bet? Herald reporter Krista Kapralos did some digging and discovered why casinos in Washington state can't call those things with the flashing lights and ringing bells "slot machines."
However, gamblers are free to continue to call them "cheap, heartless, wallet-draining, will-to-live-sapping, time-wasting pieces of @?*$%&!"
