According to an announcement from the office of Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, the county will unveil a canola processor that will be powered by gasses from the Cathcart landfill site. The seeds, produced by local farmers, will be converted into biodiesel and used by county-owned vehicles.
About 400 acres of canola will be harvested this year, but the production is expected to grow to about 4,000 acres by 2014.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Tue., Sept. 23 at 8915 Cathcart Way in Snohomish.
