Please allow me to introduce myself

Welcome to October, horror movie fans, the month we greet with the giddiness of children at Christmas, clinging to hopes that a movie studio Santa Claus will shower us with new horror films, and the DVDs of earlier movies.

And maybe, just maybe, basic-cable and movie networks will note that it’s almost Halloween and, here’s a thought: Show some horror movies.

And I don’t mean “Carnosaur 4.”

I’m no cinematic expert, and certainly no authority on horror movies. I just watch ‘em, a lot, and would love a chance to talk to others about them every day for a month.

Editorstein has granted me a horror movie blog on HeraldNet, our Web site. I’m one of the dungeon-level editors here at The Herald, but for the month of October I get to be Scream Queen.

Each day — I hope each day; Editorstein does need me to get my real job done — I’ll offer a different horror movie topic for debate, and commiseration. We’re horror movie fans, we know disappointment.

We’ll discuss sequels and remakes (I call them “ruinmakes”), favorite films, guilty pleasures and pet peeves, the apparently endless zombie phenomenon and what is up with this sudden trend of touchy-feely vampires, and lots more.

So turn down the lights, lean a little closer to your computer screen, and click on the next blog post for today's topic, favorite horror movies. Shriek away.
