On the bookshelf: Cookbooks for football fans

Winning strategy: It's all fun and games until somebody gets tackled in the kitchen.

Until then, football fans and the folks who love to feed them will enjoy two recent cookbooks dedicated to the game.

Ray Lampe's "The NFL Gameday Cookbook" offers 150 recipes divided by course, complete with team-specific menu suggestions (for example, sweet potato bread with pecans and barbecue pit beans for Carolina Panthers fans).

"The Sunday Night Football Cookbook," with introductions by Faith Hill and John Madden, organizes things by conference and team, starting in the East with New England baked stuffed clams for the New England Patriots.

Both books are jammed with the sorts of facts and tidbits sports fans enjoy, as well as plenty of game shots.
