Prep swimming: Marysville-Pilchuck remains unbeaten in Wesco North

MARYSVILLE -- Ciara Hu of Oak Harbor won the 100-yard butterfly (1 minute, 2.38 seconds) and the 200 individual medley (2:18.90), but it wasn't enough as a balanced Marysville-Pilchuck attack defeated the Wildcats 106-80 Thursday in a Wesco North swim meet.

"It was a very exciting meet," said M-P coach Jackie LeGore Hodgins. "We were really excited to face (Oak Harbor) and see how we faired against them.

Kami Girard won the 200 freestyle (2:03.52) and swam legs on M-P's winning 200 medley relay team (1:58.74) and 400 freestyle relay (3:50.09).

Girard's freshman teammate Kendall Vincelette won the 50 freestyle (25.91) and also swam legs on the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

The Tomahawks' time in the 400 freestyle relay was a state qualifying mark, and Hodgins said that was the highlight of the meet.

"That was a big deal," she said. "They're very excited."

Oak Harbor's Amanda Streubel won the 100 backstroke in a state qualifying time of 1:02.01.
