Suncadia resort in Cle Elum announces layoffs, closures

CLE ELUM -- Suncadia resort near Cle Elum has laid off 14 management employees and an undisclosed number of other workers.

Managing director Ron Olstad said that in addition to the layoffs announced this week, the Inn at Suncadia, which overlooks the Prospector golf course, will close for the winter Nov. 1. He told the Ellensburg Daily Record that the 18-room Inn will reopen next spring, but the exact date will depend on the weather and business demand. The resort's pro shop will stay open and its bar will be open on weekends.

The new, 253-room Lodge at Suncadia remains open.

Olstad said the resort will try to relocate as many employees as possible from the Inn to other jobs at Suncadia.
