Prep girls soccer: Everett wins third straight

EVERETT -- Annie Sittauer just made the Everett Seagulls that much tougher to handle.

The All-Wesco first-team defender returned to Everett's soccer lineup for the first time this season and helped lead the Seagulls to a 4-0 shutout over Arlington at Everett Memorial Stadium Tuesday.

Sittauer, who missed the first nine games because of an injury, assisted on a Brittany McMullen goal midway through the second period.

The Seagulls (7-1-1 in league and overall), already reeling after a 1-0 loss to Snohomish on Sept. 27 brought them back to Earth, have won three straight, including a 3-0 victory over previously undefeated Lake Stevens.

"After losing our Saturday game to Snohomish the girls rededicated themselves to the season and have been playing hard. I think they got ahead of themselves. The loss happened at a good time," Everett head coach Kosta Pitharoulis said.

Sele Vance scored two minutes into the contest on one of two Suzy Olsen assists.

Madison Taylor added to the lead with a goal on a Cammie Monro assist in the 44th minute.

Olsen picked up assist No. 2 in on an Alysia Letourneau goal in the 73rd minute.

"They were real crisp. They moved the ball around very well. We had four different scorers, it was a nice balanced attack," Pitharoulis said.

Emily Nestings earned her fourth shutout in goal for the Seagulls.

Arlington fell to 4-4-1.

Monroe 3, Oak Harbor 0: At Monroe, Janelle Davis, Kaitlyn Chesemore and Kaylie Sowler scored goals as the Bearcats (4-3-2 league and overall) defeated the Wildcats (1-8) in Wesco North action. Dani Philippart recorded the shutout at goalkeeper for Monroe.

Lake Stevens 7, Marysville-Pilchuck 0: At Lake Stevens, Kaleen Berg of Lake Stevens had four goals in the Wesco North victory. Teammate Annie Thomas had two goals and two assists and Kinslee Isaman had three assists. Rachel Harvey had a goal and Sandra Osborn had an assist. Lauren Schoonover and Kenna Hernandez split time in goal for Marysville-Pilchuck (1-7-1 overall). Kaitlin McKenzie and Megan Hemmingson both tended goal for Lake Stevens (8-1).

Snohomish 2, Cascade 1: At Everett, Amanda Morrell had a pair of assists on Shilla Crosby and Courtney Johnson goals, edging out Cascade for the Wesco North victory. Sam Munger scored Cascade's goal with Ricki Cullum earning the assist. Cori Brown kept goal for Snohomish (4-5 overall). Whitney Hawthorne kept goal for Cascade (3-5).

Jackson 1, Shorecrest 0: At Shoreline, it was a defensive battle from the get-go as Brianna Ellis scored the only goal in the 68th minute of the Wesco South game. Jackson keeper K.C. Wilson shut out Shorecrest and helped the Timberwolves improve to a perfect 2-0 in Wesco South play and 7-1-1 overall. Shorecrest is now 0-2 in conference, 4-3-2 overall.

Kamiak at Glacier Peak: At Snohomish, the game was postponed due to lightning. No makeup date was reported.

Shorewood 2, Edmonds-Woodway 0: At Edmonds, Ashleigh Mazrchant and Louise Albin each scored unassisted goals for Shorewood in the Wesco South victory. Goalkeeper Madison Hollenbeck was credited with the shutout for Shorewood (2-0 league, 8-0 overall). Justine Ponton tended goal for Edmonds-Woodway (0-2, 4-4).

Meadowdale 1, Mariner 0: At Everett, Julia Fjortoft scored the lone goal on an assist from Kaeli Eberth as Meadowdale (2-0 in league, 8-1 overall) shutout Mariner (0-2, 0-7) in the Wesco South game.

Lakewood 4, South Whidbey 1: At Langley, Alisha Scott and Erin Dierickx had two goals apiece for Lakewood -- two goals scored within the first 10 minutes of the Cascade Conference game. Constant defensive pressure allowed Lakewood to keep the ball at South Whidbey's end for much of the match. Paige Miller scored the only South Whidbey (4-4, 4-4) goal in the 54th minute of action. Lakewood's Maddie Chamberlin and Scott provided assists for the Cougars and Miranda Head had five saves at goalkeeper for Lakewood (3-5, 4-6).
