Double Team

Halftime score: Marysville-Pilchuck 14, Lake Stevens 0

Posted at 8:09 pm by Mike Cane, Herald Writer

So far, this Wesco North dual between teams with completely different styles has been owned by M-P.

The Tomahawks used a 32-yard TD run by Ryan Sterley and an 11-yard scoring pass from quarterback Devin Peterson to sophomore tight end Jarrett Finau. Finau's catch came with 52 seconds to go in the half. It was Peterson's only completion so far in three attempts.

Lake Stevens is down by 14 points despite intercepting a pass and recovering two fumbles. Bo Dickinson (51 yards rushing, 28 yards receiving) has been the Vikings' top offensive player.

It's homecoming night at Lake Stevens, so we're in the midst of a lengthy halftime show. ... Now on the track, here come some golf carts that have been decorated to look like Viking ships - I think. They don't look very intimidating.

The crowd here is huge. Both the home and visitor stands are crammed and the overflow of fans for each side stretches the entire distance of the field along the fence that borders the edge of the track.

M-P's defense has been stout. They've put a ton of pressure on Lake Stevens QB Nick Baker, who has just 62 yards passing, no TDs and an interception.
