Bachtoberfest combines the best of both

It's October so it's Bachtoberfest time with the Seattle Bach Choir presenting its fourth annual event that's served up with a German buffet, buckets of beer and wine and a huge helping of Bach.

Bachtoberfest is from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Parish Hall, 609 Eighth Ave., Seattle. Tickets are $35 and available at www.brownpapertickets.com.

Bachtoberfest is the choir's annual fundraiser that includes food and drink and a silent and live auction, and the singing of the Seattle Bach Choir. One special goal this year is to raise money for an orchestra for the choir's 2008-2009 season of Messe. The choir will perform Bach's first Lutheran Mass in November and Mozart's Credo Mass in June, both requiring a sizeable orchestra.

The choir will offer up its own special wine collection of more than 30 bottles for auction, as well as a chocolate collection that's just as big. The German buffet for the event comes complete with veggie brats for the vegetarians.
