Depth chart notes

Posted at 9:50 am by John Boyle

Hope everyone out there had an enjoyable bye weekend. Now it's time to start looking ahead to this weekend's game against Oregon State.

We'll hear from coach Willingham and some players later today, but for now we've got a few notes on the new depth chart that came out this morning.

On offense, the biggest question mark heading into the game will be at the tailback position. The starter is listed as either Willie Griffin or Brandon Johnson, with Terrance Dailey listed behind them. David Freeman, a starter for two weeks before injuring both ankles, is fourth on the depth chart, which could be an indicator that he's not as healthy heading into this week as coaches would have hoped.

Otherwise, not much different on the offense.

Defensively, the free safety spot is listed as Tripper Johnson or Johri Fogerson or Victor Aiyewa, so it looks like they're still sorting that spot out with injuries and such. Donald Butler is again listed as the starter at midle linebacker, indicating that he's recovered fully from his concussion against Stanford. Butler played against Arizona, but Trenton Tuiasosopo started and played the majority of the snaps.

Matt Houston and Josh Gage are again listed as either/or at outside linebacker.
