Branch among Seahawks inactives
TAMPA, Fla. -- Wide receiver Deion Branch and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck were among the eight players the Seattle Seahawks ruled inactive on Sunday night.
Hasselbeck was not expected to make the trip to Tampa Bay, where the Seahawks will face the Buccaneers in their first Sunday Night Football appearance of the season. He has been out with a bad back but could return to the lineup next week.
As expected, Seneca Wallace will make his first start of the season in place of Hasselbeck.
Branch is sidelined by a bruised heel. He will probably be replaced by Bobby Engram in the starting lineup, while Koren Robinson starts at split end. Second-year player Jordan Kent is likely to see his first playing time since the opener.
Also inactive are cornerback Kevin Hobbs, kicker Brandon Coutu, guard Mansfield Wrotto, tight end Will Heller, defensive end Baraka Atkins and defensive tackle Howard Green.
Rookie Red Bryant is likely to see his first action at defensive tackle since the season opener.
