Seven schools honored for improving WASL scores

Seven Snohomish County schools were honored as schools of distinction Wednesday for high WASL scores.

Schools in Lake Stevens, Snohomish, Stanwood, Arlington and Everett earned the honor because students there performed better on the WASL standardized test in the spring of this year than most students in the state.

In deciding which schools deserved the honor, state workers evaluated six years of WASL scores.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Terry Bergeson honored the 98 schools of distinction Wednesday morning at Garfield High School in Seattle.

Snohomish County's schools of distinction are:

Sunnycrest Elementary in Lake Stevens

Glenwood Elementary in Lake Stevens

Dutch Hill Elementary in Snohomish

Stanwood Elementary in Stanwood

Post Middle School in Arlington

Gateway Middle School in Everett

Heatherwood Middle School in Everett

To see the complete list of schools, go to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's Web site at www.k12.wa.us.
