Wife suspected in Oak Harbor man's stabbing

OAK HARBOR -- An Oak Harbor man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition Sunday after being stabbed in the leg. Police suspect his wife.

The man, 50, on Monday was in serious condition at the Seattle hospital, Island County sheriff's Sgt. Mike Beech said.

Police were called about 7:30 p.m. to Whitney Drive to investigate a man with a bleeding leg, Beech said.

The man at first told deputies the wound was self-inflicted, the sergeant said. Police later learned the life-threatening stab wound was a result of a domestic dispute with the man's wife.

The wife, 46, was booked into the Island County Jail for investigation of domestic violence, first-degree assault.
