Prep soccer/volleyball: Jackson wins shootout

OAK HARBOR -- No one said winning a district championship is easy.

Kamiak and Jackson were tied after regulation, tied after two overtimes and tied after five penalty kicks Saturday at Oak Harbor Memorial Stadium. Finally Jackson's Katie Reese scored on the eighth penalty kick to hand Jackson a 1-0 victory, the 4A District 1 Championship and a No. 1 seed to state.

"This was the third time we played them this season," Kamiak head coach Beth Stewart said. "So they knew a lot about us, and we knew a lot about them."

The narrow win improved Jackson's season record to 14-1-3.

Tana Foster started in goal for Kamiak, which fell to 10-6-2.

KC Wilson started in goal for Jackson.
