MARYSVILLE

Great volunteers keep city beautiful

Community service is a vital part of any vibrant city. The city of Marysville is very blessed to have so many citizens who take an active part in making our community a better place to live. This was on full display on Oct. 11, when more than 300 volunteers showed up at Asbery Field for "Serve Day 2." I drive by this field nearly every day and in one day this group of volunteers completely refurbished and beautified this baseball field as well as adding some beautiful landscaping and walkways.

A special thank you to all who gave up your Saturday to invest in turning Asbery Field into top quality facility that we all now get to enjoy. Also, thank you so much to the many churches in our community which organized this event and turned out so many members of their respective congregations, including Marysville United Methodist, Marysville Free Methodist, Word Of Life, Jakes House, Turning Point Community Church, Marysville 7th Day Adventist, Allen Creek Community Church, and New Hope Foursquare Church. (I apologize if I missed anyone.) All of your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Jon Nehring
Marysville City Council
