    State brackets: football, soccer, volleyball

    What a season for local girls soccer teams!

    A quick look at the state tournament brackets reveals that six area squads have qualified for this weekend’s semifinals. They are Jackson (Class 4A); Everett and Shorecrest (3A); Archbishop Murphy and Cedarcrest (2A); and King’s (1A).

    Here are links to each of the respective girls soccer brackets. You can see how local teams got to this point and check out the schedule for Friday and Saturday.

    Some interesting possible scenarios exist in the 3A final four. If Everett (18-2-1) beats Kennedy (20-0-1) on Friday, the Seagulls will play a familiar opponent in Saturday’s championship: Either Seattle Prep (15-3-3) or Shorecrest (15-5-2). Seattle Prep ended Everett’s season the past two years in the state quarterfinals. Everett beat Shorecrest earlier this month in the District 1 championship game.
