    Reader poll: 2A football playoffs

    Posted at 8:52 am

    And then there was one.

Week by week, local football teams have been steadily knocked out of the playoffs. Now the only squad still alive is Archbishop Murphy. The unbeaten Wildcats have reached the Class 2A quarterfinals. They play Centralia 7:30 p.m. Friday in Tumwater.

In the final Associated Press 2A poll, Murphy is ranked No. 2; Centralia is No. 9. (The top-ranked team is undefeated Prosser.)

While Murphy has been demolishing opponents, Centralia has been winning by modest margins. Here’s a comparison of the teams’ points scored versus points allowed totals:
    *Murphy: 471-145
    *Centralia: 321-216

Eight teams remain in the 2A football playoff bracket.
