Woman struck by car along Lynnwood street

LYNNWOOD – A woman was taken to a Seattle hospital with life-threatening injuries this morning after being struck by a car when she apparently stepped off the sidewalk into the road.

Detectives investigated the 7:42 a.m. crash in the 3200 block of 148th Street SW, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Brand said.

The Lynnwood woman, 43, was walking on the sidewalk when she stepped into the road and was hit, he said.

She was taken to Harborview Medical Center, the region’s trauma center, where she was in critical condition.

The driver, an Everett man, cooperated with detectives, Brand said.

The road was closed for about two hours as detectives collected evidence.

Winter months, October through February, are the most dangerous for pedestrian accidents, traffic records show.
