PREVENTING ILLNESS

Clinic magazines require gloves

My grandmother taught me something years ago that has stayed with me all my life. During a visit to a doctor's office recently I felt compelled to pass along that advice. I was told, "Never ever pick up a magazine in the doctor's waiting room."

Every germ being treated at that facility are on the pages of the magazines, having been handled by sick people. Eliminating this reading material would not only reduce the spread of germs but save the medical facility the cost of untold subscriptions to all the magazines. By the way, I always bring my own reading material when I visit the doctor's office.
