Dispatches from 'Paris': Vanessa Fontana survives again

Font of success: Vanessa Fontana has made it into the final four on the MTV reality show "Paris Hilton's My New BFF."

The 22-year-old escaped elimination on last week's episode of the show, which finds people competing to become part of Hilton's entourage.

Before heading back to Mount Vernon from Los Angeles for Thanksgiving with her parents, Fontana checked in with the Herald to discuss the last episode of the show and set up tonight's, airing at 10 on MTV.

Q: A recently eliminated contestant returned to make you look like a bum during a makeover challenge. How long did the transformation take?

A: I would probably say it was a good two hours that she was gooping hair spray and putting frosting on my head.

Q: What did that help prove to Hilton?

A: In my case, I think it showed her I had a great sense of humor and anything she throws at me, I can handle.

Q: When Hilton said she'd meet all five of you in the Jacuzzi for the elimination round, were you thinking, "Sweet -- Jacuzzi!" or, "Damn, elimination"?

A: Eliminations are never fun, so I wasn't thinking sweet anything.

Q: During that round, Hilton put all of you guys up for possible elimination. Lauren ended up lashing out at you, saying you were "a little on the crazy side." You seemed upset at the time.

A: Lauren was one of my closest friends in the house. She had been nothing but nice to me, so it really hurt my feelings.

Q: Next episode, Paris tricks each contestant into thinking they've been eliminated, even though that's not the case. What was that like?

A: It was definitely an emotional roller coaster, to say the least.
