    Kwikset's Smart Code electronic deadbolt

What: Kwikset's Smart Code electronic deadbolt won't leave you fumbling for keys, thanks to a handy numeric touchpad and backlit buttons.

Advantages: Convenient one-touch locking is easy. It has a motorized deadbolt powered by four AA batteries. It allows for two access codes, one to be used by residents and another for guests who need temporary access. It's available in brass, Venetian bronze (pictured) and satin nickel.

Limitations: Though this incarnation of the Smart Code lock is smaller and sleeker than previous designs, it's modern look may not fit with every style of door.

Cost: $114.99 (brass), $124.99 (bronze and satin nickel)

Where: Most major hardware stores and many online merchants carry Kwikset products. See www.kwikset.com for a list of retailers.
