Alcohol suspected cause in Highway 9 accident

SNOHOMISH -- Alcohol is suspected as a cause of a crash that injured four people Thursday, officers say.

Washington State patrol troopers responded about 5:40 p.m. to the scene of the accident at Highway 9 and 172nd Street SE.

The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe was travelling northbound on Highway 9, when he crossed over a centerline and struck a Dodge Durango, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 16-year-old Snohomish boy who was driving the Dodge was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His three passengers, ages 12, 13 and 18, were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions were unknown Friday.

The Chevrolet driver, a 45-year-old Snohomish man, was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of driving under the influence, the State Patrol reported. A 6-year-old boy who was with him wasn't hurt.
