Everett last week released a 41-page addendum to the Everett Riverfront development's environmental impact report, which includes the proposed changes. The Everett Planning Commission is scheduled to review the revised environmental document at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at Everett Station's Weyerhaeuser Room, 3201 Smith St. More info: www.everettwa.org/ default.aspx?ID=1075. Snohomish County director resigning Snohomish County Executive Director Deanna Dawson will leave her post in county government on Dec. 31 for a job in Washington, D.C. She will begin work next year as director of the federal courts program for Justice at Stake, a nonprofit organization that works to keep federal courts fair and free from bias. Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon appointed Dawson to a top spot on his staff in May 2006. She also serves on the Edmonds City Council, a post she will also leave at the end of the year. Councilmen recognized by national cities group City Councilmen Mark Olson and Ron Gipson were recognized by the National League of Cities for reaching the Diamond level of its Certificate of Achievement in Leadership program. The certificates were awarded Nov. 12 at the Congress of Cities Conference in Orlando, Fla. Diamond certificates are awarded to local elected official who earn 80 credits in five core areas of municipal leadership and who serve as a mentor for fellow National League of Cities members. The National League of Cities is the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit organization for cities. Everett City Councilman Arlan Hatloe reached the Diamond level last year. Gold Bar Final budget hearing The Gold Bar City Council plans a public hearing on the proposed 2009 budget at 7 tonight at City Hall, 107 Fifth St. The proposed budget includes a general fund of $987,948. The total proposed budget is $3,812,502. Lake Stevens Class teaches vehicle maintenance to women The Lake Stevens Family Center and the Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center are offering a class on Saturday to teach basic auto maintenance to women of all ages. The free event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center, 9001 Airport Road, Everett. The class will cover automobile basics such as how to check and add fluids, change and fill tires, and tips for buying autos and auto-related products. Registration is required. Marysville Lighted wreath promotes fire safety The Marysville Fire District has launched its annual Keep the Wreath Green program to promote fire safety through the holiday season. The fire district has a large wreath covered in green light bulbs mounted on each of its five fire stations. The bulbs are changed to red when there is a structure fire anywhere in the district and to white when a firefighter anywhere in the United States dies in the line of duty. Mountlake Terrace Grant will pay for new sidewalks on 230th St. SW The city has been awarded a state grant of $245,995 to build new sidewalks on 230th Street SW from 56th to 61st avenues W. This street provides a major connection for drivers, pedestrians, and bus riders to the 230th Street SW bridge, one of three bridges in the city that crosses I-5. The project also includes sidewalk ramps, two bike lanes; an intermittent parking lane, drainage improvements and a new water main. Snohomish Old Carnegie Library gets holiday lights The Snohomish Carnegie Foundation has decorated the Carnegie Library with more than 1,200 lights for the holiday season. Wyser Construction owner Dan Reynolds donated lights and labor valued at $1,400. Hertz Equipment also donated the use of a lift. The foundation is dedicated to the rehabilitation and reuse of the library, built in 1910 at 105 Cedar Ave. The Snohomish Carnegie Library is one of 30 historic Carnegie libraries in the state.
