Car Club Challenge Association announces 2009 schedule

The Car Club Challenge Association (CCCA) announced its 2009 schedule on Monday. The CCCA was created in 1999 to promote street legal drag racing between car clubs in the Pacific Northwest

As outlined on the group's Web site (www.carclubchallenge.com), the "CCCA offers an opportunity for any group of people to join together and create a team that can compete. It's an alternative to street racing which has been a major problem in Western Washington. It gives an outlet for people who want to competitively race their cars while learning about the sport of drag racing. It's a competitive series that also caters to the beginning racer who wants to learn more about drag racing."

Car clubs that are expected to participate in 2009, along with the team captains, include:

-- Mopar Drag Team (captain: Dave Kranz)
-- Pacific N.W. Camaro Club (Don Berry)
-- Ford Drag Team (Kent Magruder)
-- N.W. Fbody (Ellis Groo)
-- Seattle Grand Prix Club (R.C. Mitchell)
-- N.W. Muscle Car Assn (Sherry Barnett)
-- South County Classic Cruisers (Jerry Gossette)
-- Fast Company (Don Peterson)

Events are held at either Bremerton or Pacific Raceways and trophies are awarded at each race as well as at the end of the season. The series is staffed by volunteers who work hard to ensure safety, to maintain the integrity of the series and ensure open communication between the racers, sponsors and the tracks.
