Seahawks bickering? They say no

RENTON -- Seattle Seahawks safety Deon Grant spent part of Wednesday afternoon clarifying comments he made after last Thursday's loss to Dallas.

Grant said after the game that the Seahawks didn't put enough pressure on Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Some of the reporters present assumed that the comments were a shot at defensive coordinator John Marshall's game plan, but Grant said Wednesday that he was not pointing fingers.

"Let me explain," he said. "Somebody took that out of context. When I said pressure, I meant that somebody needs to get in a quarterback's face. I don't talk about blitz. Blitzing never came out of my mouth. It was about pressure."

After Wednesday's practice, Marshall said that he welcomes input from the players and added that Grant has been a valuable source of give-and-take throughout his career.

"From a defensive standpoint, these players are really, really good about communicating with players and about the coaches listening to the players," Marshall said.

Grant contends that his Thursday comments were more about what the players were unable to do than what the coaches were calling.

"I never mentioned John Marshall's name," Grant said. "I read the quotes and saw that what I was meaning John. I didn't mention John. John and I have a great relationship, and I have no problem with what he's calling."
