Good deeds

Frontier Bank has started its annual United Way Campaign, led by Krista Cortez, this year's loaned executive from the bank. With a couple of weeks remaining, the bank is nearing a 50 percent participation rate toward this year's goal of at least 600 of their 800-plus employees. In the midst of the annual fundraising campaign, the bank's main office spearheaded a food drive benefiting Volunteers of America, and collected 1,445 pounds of food and more than $216.

This is the season of giving but as one of our member businesses recently highlighted, that giving should be a part of business year-round. Steadfast Commercial Properties, owners of the Everett Mall and four other West Coast malls, details the value of community involvement and charitable giving in their podcast show "Steadfast Soundbyte," which can be found at www.steadfastsoundbyte.com. The episode features an interview with Louise Stanton-Masten, chief executive of the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce, and Linda Johannes, general manager of the Everett Mall. Together they discuss how giving back translates to the bottom line for business.
