Weekend reading: Ben Gibbard engaged, Willie Nelson, Adele

Posted at 12:01 am

To start on a local note, various sites have reported that Ben Gibbard, frontman for Seattle’s Death Cab for Cutie, has become engaged to actress Zooey Deschanel.

Mazel tov, guys!

That’s not the only story that caught my eye this week, however. Read on for a fun excerpt from a Willie Nelson profile and more.

  • For an upcoming album called “Naked Willie,” Willie Nelson took a nude self-portrait with his iPhone, we find out in Rolling Stone.

  • Adele tells the NY Times she thinks Sarah Palin is politically mad and tiny. (You may have to register with the NYT to access this article.)

  • Brandon Flowers tells the Onion A/V Club that the saxophone is a greasy instrument.

  • As Indian composer A.R. Rahman talks about the "Slumdog Millionaire" score with the Wall Street Journal, we find out Bollywood composers may score 150 films a year.
