New business

Bikram Yoga Everett has opened its doors at 520 128th St. SW, Unit A-9, in Everett. The business is operated by Yu Wang and will focus on the Bikram style of yoga, which involves 26 postures. For more information, go to www.BikramEverett.com or call 425-265-9500.

Quality Fitness opened Friday in Mukilteo. The new business, located at 304 Lincoln Ave., Suite 102, will focus on personal training and on classes in yoga, spinning, Pilates and circuit training. Owner Kay Peterson said her intention is to provide something for everyone, regardless of fitness level. The business is located on the first floor of the Rosehill Community Center. Sam Kaplan, vice president for the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle, will speak about the World Bank Group and its new private sector liaison officer at 7:30 a.m. Friday in Whitehorse Hall, Room 105 at Everett Community College. Tax help

The American Association of Retired People will team with the accounting department at Everett Community College to offer tax preparation help to middle- and low-income taxpayers. The program is intended for people 60 and older. The clinics will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays between Jan. 29 and April 14. The assistance will be offered at the college, 2000 Tower St., in Room 104 of Rainier Hall. To make an appointment and get information about what to bring, call Laura Little at 425-388-9565.

Good deeds

Haggen Food & Pharmacy and TOP Food & Drug stores in Snohomish County are collecting donations for the 13th annual Warm Coats for Kids campaign, which runs through Jan. 31. The campaign seeks new or gently worn coats, hats, scarves and mittens. Donations will be distributed to women's and children's centers in Puget Sound by Northwest Center.
