TACOMA -- The Washington Sports Hall of Fame announced Wednesday that former Seattle SuperSonics coach Lenny Wilkens will become its newest inductee.
Wilkens will be honored at halftime of this Saturday's game between Washington and California.
Already enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame, Wilkens spent four seasons with the SuperSonics as a player and another 11 seasons as a coach, leading them to their only NBA title in the 1978-79 season. He had a 478-402 record as the Sonics coach and his No. 19 jersey was retired by the team.
The NBA all-time leader in coaching victories with 1,332 wins, Wilkens has not coached since the 2004-05 season with the New York Knicks when Wilkens resigned after going 17-22 to start the season.
