by John Boyle According to Joe Lunardi of espn.com, the Huskies project as a tournament team in this week's braketology. Lundardi didn't have Washington in his bracket before the Huskies went 1-1 this week, but he now has them as a 10 seed, one of four Pac-10 teams along with UCLA, ASU and Cal.
Of course this doesn't really mean much of anything right now seeing as the Huskies have 15 Pac-10 games left to play, but it at least shows that the national perception of the Huskies is improving.
Cal is ranked this week in the AP (22nd) and coaches poll (23), and I'm guessing most of those votes would have gone to the Huskies had they won on Saturday. Even with the loss the Huskies still got three votes in the coaches poll.
The Huskies can help themselves out a lot if they can pull off a road sweep in Oregon this week. The Ducks and Beavers have both been struggling, so the Huskies have a good shot at beating both, but winning two on the road is never easy. One of the big challenges for Washington this week will be avoiding any hangover from a tough triple-overtime loss to Cal. If the Huskies aren't able to get over that loss quickly, they could be in trouble on the road.
