Highway 9 reopens in both directions

SNOHOMISH – Highway 9 in Snohomish was reopened in both directions early this morning, easing traffic problems caused by last week’s flooding.

State Department of Transportation officials cleared the road just after 2 a.m.

A low-lying section of Highway 9 south of Snohomish was closed Thursday because of water over the roadway.

Northbound lanes of the highway between Second Street and E. Lowell-Larimer Road were reopened Monday in time for the evening commute, but traffic was snarled in Everett and elsewhere as people sought alternate routes to avoid Snohomish and lingering flood problems.
