Political FYI

Meet candidate for the County Council

Ellen Hiatt Watson, a candidate for Snohomish County Council, plans to appear at a brunch of the Stanwood Democrats today.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stillaguamish Grange, 6521 Pioneer Highway.

Watson, who lives on Lake Howard, west of Smokey Point, declared her candidacy in the fall for the County Council seat for District 1. Republican John Koster holds that seat.

Watson is chairwoman of the community group 7-Lakes, which has been leading the opposition to a planned large-scale development of cluster housing in the area north of Lake Goodwin.

Watson, 43, is a 1983 graduate of Stanwood High School. She now works as a marketing consultant.
