Learn how to be an artist who doesn't starve

You can make art and also make a living. Find out how to turn your creative engine into a money-making machine -- or a sustainable business -- at the BizArt 2009 conference for visual, literary and performing artists.

The conference is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 20 and 21 at the Everett Transit Center, 3201 Smith St., Everett.

Artists will talk about marketing, resource development and financial and legal issues. Also, state and local organizations will present resources available to artists.

The keynote speaker this year is musician Tim O'Neill, one-half of the piano-playing duo The O'Neill Brothers, who have released 30 albums. Tim O'Neill and brother Ryan have provided music for television shows, including "Cold Case." Their PBS concert special, "Piano for Someone You Love," was nominated for an Emmy award.

The BizArt conference is a presentation of Everett Community College's School of Business Design, Edmonds Community College's ArtsNow and Self-Employment in the Arts of North Central College, Ill.

The cost is $129 for all sessions, including breakfast and lunch both days. Admission for full-time students is $59. Find out more at www.bizartinfo.com. To register, call 425-267-0157.
