No, silly, not my garden.
My Garden, an up-and-coming nursery in Mill Creek, won the “Best Use of Recycled Material” award for its container display at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show.
“Putting Our Heads Together to Make Our World a Better Place” featured a vintage door painted three shades of purple, steppingstones with inspirational words, a fence made from curly willow and eight containers shaped like heads and filled with foliage and flowers.
In addition to incorporating unusual recycled materials, garden creator Jenny Gunderson hoped to increase awareness of the importance of Alzheimer’s research.
Both her parents lived and died with the disease.
Gunderson, who opened the nursery with her partner Bill Raynolds in 2006, created a similar display garden at the nursery called the Plant-a-Head for Alzheimer’s Memory Garden.
