737s collide on ground at San Diego
SAN DIEGO -- Southwest Airlines said a wingtip of one of its jets clipped the tail of another Southwest plane on the ground at San Diego's Lindbergh Field.
Airline spokeswoman Whitney Eichinger said no one was hurt when the planes touched each other as one was backing out of a gate this afternoon. Both are Boeing 737s.
Both planes were taken out of service and customers were being moved to other aircraft. One flight was headed to Kansas City and the other to San Francisco.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the aircraft were not under FAA air traffic controllers' direction at the time.
