Celtic dancers to perform at Everett kids museum
Watch their steps.
Thirty to 40 dancers will set Imagine Children's Museum awhirl Saturday, continuing a four-year tradition of the Clan Heather Dancers demonstrating their skills at the museum.
"Our program encompasses both Irish and Scottish dance, and our presentation has lots of variety," Clan Heather Dancers director Heather Richendrfer said.
"It's unusual (in the dance world) to have both Irish and Scottish dance in one show. Spectators will see beautiful velvet Irish dresses in an array of colors, and kilts."
She said the group often does 12 to 15 shows on St. Patrick's Day and 25 or more, total, in March.
The dancers range from preschoolers to adults in their 60s.
"I encourage questions, and sometimes we include the opportunity for spectators to try a step ... I tell the stories of the dances to clarify what the dancers are doing," she said. "Our show is a chance for everyone to be Irish for a while."
The dancing starts at 12:15 p.m., lasts about 30 minutes and will be followed by a question-and-answer session and another 30 minutes of dancing.
Visitors also can add art to a 25-by-12-foot rainbow wall and write wishes on pot-of-gold coins.
"(We have found that) people enjoy having their artistic handiwork added to a project that becomes a giant piece of art," said creative arts manager Raniere, who goes by one name.
