    Softball players to watch

    Briar Stanley

    Monroe, senior, C

Recent accomplishments: verbal commit to Florida State University; first-team Herald All-Area; first team media all-state, 2008, first team all-Wesco North, 2008

Coach's comment: "She's a winner, a competitor and a senior leader. She's going to the next level, so she wants to have a good year. With one swing of the bat, it's a different ball game with her. … We're a fairly young club now, we're going to be reloading, and she's going to help out." -- Curt Eskeback

Opposing coach's comment: "Briar is a great player, she's a good catcher but in terms of her hitting ability, she is one that changes an entire lineup, and the mindset of an opposing pitcher. She's pretty impressive." -- Kyle Peacocke, Everett.

    Jerrica Kang

    Lynnwood, senior, OF

Recent accomplishments: verbal commitment to Stony Brook (N.Y.) University; first-team Herald All-Area; second team media all-state, 2008; first team All-Wesco South, 2008

Coach's comment: "She just loves to get out and play. I don't think (having decided on a college) will factor in. She wants to see Lynnwood do well, she wants to see the girls she's played with do well and she wants to go out on a high note. She's a power hitter with a great attitude -- a relaxed, yet energetic attitude. She gets it that this game is fun, and needs to be kept fun, but she's definitely a competitor." -- Matt Rockne.

    Alexandra Hudson

    Everett, senior, OF

Recent accomplishments: Verbal commitment to play for Brigham Young University; first team all-Wesco North, 2008; honorable mention media all-state team, 2008.

Coach's comment: "Now that she knows where she's going to go to school, that takes some of the pressure off her. I expect her to have a pretty good offensive year. She's been a starter for three years now and I see her being a real great hitter and a strong leader on our team. I have six starters back from last year's team and three of those were all-team, all-area." -- Kyle Peacocke.

    Kayla Watson

    Mountlake Terrace, junior, C

Recent accomplishments: second team Herald all-area; first team all-Wesco South, 2008.

Coach's comment: "She's head and shoulders the best catcher around. All Wesco two years ago, she's one of those people that no pitch is safe with her. She can hit pretty much anything. Great catcher, great arm. When you got two people like (pitcher) Kori (Seidlitz) and Kayla as your rotation, you've got an edge on anybody. Kayla's really worked on her speed, she's really put in the work in the offseason. She doesn't want us to run for her at this point. She's a smart baserunner, one of the hardest workers we have." -- Kim Stewart

    Jordan Nemo

    Stanwood, senior, SS

Recent accomplishments: first team all-Wesco North, 2008; plans on attending, but not playing softball, at Washington State University

Coach's comment: "She's a natural athlete, but on top of that she has a good work ethic. … I've seen natural athletes before that just show up, that's not Jordan. Jordan is hard-working, a good strong key player. … I know when she gets on the field she'll give 110 percent." -- Cherlyn Schander.

Opposing coach's comment: "Jordan is a scrappy player … she gets after it. It's one thing to have the talent, skill and athleticism, but that kid plays with serious heart." -- KT Allyn, Marysville-Pilchuck.

    Erin Feeney

    Jackson, junior, 1B/P

Recent accomplishments: second team, Herald all-area; first team All-Wesco South, 2008.

Coach's comment: "She's one of our key players. She's more of a role-type pitcher, last year we used her like a baseball closer. She's a different type of pitcher, not necessarily a power pitcher. Good location, mixes her speeds well, has a different type of delivery. In that role, she was excellent. Came in, changed the pace of the game. … She's a mentally tough kid. She was one of our leading hitters last year. I would project her as the three, four or five hitter." -- Mike Moran.
